N. Valarmathi The ISRO scientist, Ms. N. Valarmathi has conferred with the first Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award 2015. The award is instituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu in honour of the former president Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in 2015. It carries Rs. 5 lakh, a gold medal and a certificate of appreciation. The annual award is for a person from Tamil Nadu striving for scientific advancement, humanities or students welfare. Ms. Valarmathi is the project director of India’s first indigenously-developed Radar Imaging Satellite RISAT-1.
