The double coconut (Lodoicea maldivica) palm species bears the largest seed in the world. Coco de mer, the seed of the Lodoicea maldivica can reach about 12 inches (30 cm) long and weigh up to 25 kg. This unique species is also the longest surviving palm which can live for as long as 1,000 years. This rare tree can be found in only two of the 115 Seychelles islands.
