Notes: After the spread of the Buddhist religion, Chinese travellers came to India in big numbers to collect religious books and to visit holy places of Buddhism. They mainly aimed to acquire knowledge of Buddhism and even the Chinese emperor tried to get the permission of visiting India. Notable among those travellers included I-tsing, Ha- Hsien and Hiuen Tsang.
