Notes: Maulvi Liakat Ali led the Revolt of 1857 in Allahabad. He set up his own government and made a series of political and military appointments. But , soon, the city was recaptured by the Brtish forces under the command of Colonel Neill. But, this great freedom fighter escaped from there and was caught after 14 years on September 1871 at Byculla railway station in Surat due to the treachery of his friends. He was tried in the Court of Law and sentenced to death, but died in captivity in Rangoon on May 17,1892.
