Notes: At Kanpur, the Revolt of 1857 was led by Nana Saheb, the adopted son of Baji Rao II, the last Peshwa. He kicked out the British from Kanpur with the help of the sepoys and proclaimed himself the Peshwa. But, soon Kanpur was recaptured by the British commander Sir Colin Campbell and the revolt was suppressed. Nana Saheb escaped to Nepal.
