Notes: Anarchical and Revolutionary Crimes Act, 1919 or Rowlatt Act, also known as Black Act was passed by the Imperial Legislative Council in Delhi on 21 March 1919. It empowered the government to put anyone behind the bars without trial and conviction in court law. It basically suspended the right of Habeas Corpus. The main purpose of enacting this act was suppressing the activities of the revolutionaries.
