Notes: The Uttar Pradesh administration has banned the Neja fair held in Sambhal. The fair was organized in memory of Syed Salar Masood Ghazi, nephew and commander of Mahmud Ghaznavi. The tomb of Abdul Salar Ghazi in Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh, was built by Firoz Shah Tughlaq. Many soldiers of Ghaznavi's army died in battles with Prithviraj Chauhan, and their tombs in Sambhal became a religious site. Sambhal was Prithviraj Chauhan's capital. The ban cites Ghaznavi’s 17 invasions (1000–1027 AD) and destruction of Hindu temples, linking the fair to foreign invaders and potential communal tensions.
