Q. From whom did the French East India Company acquire Pondicherry?
Answer: Sultan of Bijapur
Notes: The French East India Company acquired the right to administer Pondicherry (now called Puducherry) in 1673, by an agreement with the Sultan of Bijapur. They got Pondicherry from the Muslim chief at Valkondapuram who accepted the transfer of factory at that place.
