The important tributaries of Ajay river are Pathro and Jayanti in Jharkhand and Tumuni & Kunur in Bardhaman district of West Bengal. Ajay river has been declared as National Waterway 7 by the Government of India. The decision was taken under the National Waterways Act, 2016.
