Notes:
The fifth edition of the Paris Peace Forum was inaugurated, with the theme of “Riding out the multicrisis”.
The Forum will focus on how to overcome the socio-economic impact of multiple crises, develop international cooperation on major issues, support multilateralism and improve global cooperation mechanisms. The Paris Peace Forum was initiated by French President Emmanuel Macron to promote multilateral cooperation and address global challenges. The first edition was held in 2018.

President of Indonesia Joko Widodo is set to hand over the G20 Presidency to India at the closing ceremony of the G-20 Summit, to be held in Bali, Indonesia.
India will officially assume the G20 Presidency from the 1st of December. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have discussions with other G20 Leaders on reviving global growth, food and energy security, environment, health, and digital transformation in the Bali Summit.

Cochin Shipyard has signed an MoU with Inland Waterways Authority of India to build the country’s first hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel for Varanasi.
The air-conditioned hydrogen fuel cell catamaran vessel will have a seating capacity for 100 passengers. The vessels will contribute to the reduction in pollution levels in the National Waterways. Cochin Shipyard also signed an MoU for construction of six electric catamaran vessels for Uttar Pradesh and two such vessels for Guwahati.

India announced an additional contribution of USD 5 million to the ASEAN-India science and technology fund.
The contribution aims to enhance cooperation in sectors of public health, renewable energy and smart agriculture. ASEAN-India Science & Technology Collaboration started in 1996 with the establishment of the ASEAN India S&T working group (AIWGST).

Russia and Ukraine agree to extend grain deal by another 120 days, which allows grain exports from Ukrainian ports through safe corridor in the Black Sea.
The grain deal was brokered by the United Nations and Turkey is extended by another 120 days as the existing agreement is to end on November 19.  So far, nearly 11 million tons of grain and foodstuffs have been exported under the agreement. This has saved economy of Ukraine as well as African countries.

Naturopathy Day is observed every year in India on 18th November, the day on which Mahatma Gandhi became a Life Member of the Nature Cure Foundation Trust and signed the deed.
The day is observed since 2018 in India. Gandhi is considered the founding figure of Naturopathy in India. The main event was organized at National Institute of Naturopathy in Pune. This year’s Naturopathy day was celebrated with the theme, Naturopathy: An Integrative Medicine.

North Korea launched the ‘Hwasong-17’ intercontinental ballistic missile. It is also dubbed as the Monster missile. The Hwasong-17 is North Korea’s biggest missile yet. It is also the largest road-mobile, liquid-fuelled intercontinental ballistic missile in the world.

Manika Batra became the first Indian table tennis player to win a medal in the ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup Table Tennis Tournament, held in Bangkok, Thailand.
She has won a Bronze medal by defeating world No. 6 Hina Hayata of Japan. Chetan Baboor, with silver in 1997 and bronze in 2000, was the only Indian table tennis player to win a medal at the Asian Cup before this.

India has launched the official website of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) as it will host the next SCO summit as a chairman of organisation in 2023. The theme of the SCO Summit 2023 is ‘SECURE SCO’.
India received the SCO rotating presidency in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The leaders of SCO Member States signed the Samarkand Declaration in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State in the city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.

The 29th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, which was held in Bangkok, Thailand, under the theme of ‘Open, Connect and Balance.
As the chair of APEC, the goal of Thailand is to spread the use of its flagship environmental initiative, the ‘Bio-circular-green economy model’, throughout APEC. Next year, the host of the summit is the US.
