The full moon during the month of May is called the flower moon because of the abundance of flowers around the world.
This year, it coincided with the lunar eclipse in which the moon will turn red. It was also closest to the Earth during its orbit, making it appear larger and brighter. The super flower blood moon was visible only in parts of South America, Australia and south-east Asia

The Government of Assam has introduced the system of Guardian Minister. Each Minister would be assigned two to three districts in the state and the responsibility to implement various schemes of the Union and the state governments would be vested with the Minister.
The Minister would also over see the grievance redressal and resolve any other issues in the allotted districts.

The Reserve Bank of India has released its Annual Report for the financial year 2020-21, which ended
on 31st March 2021. Previously the financial year adopted by RBI was from July to June. But RBI has
amended its financial year to April – March from FY 2020-21.
Hence, the annual report for FY 2020-21 covers the functions of RBI for 9 months period from July
2020 to March 2021.

The Space X has launched a Falcon 9 rocket on May 26 th 2021 from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station here in Florida. This is the company’s reusable rocket, which would be brought down to the Earth after launch.
The rocket carried 60 Starlink internet satellites and has placed all of them in earth’s orbit.

The World Meteorological organization (WMO) has recently released a report named “Global Annual to Decadal Climate Update”.
As per the report, there is a 90% chance that any one year among 2021 to 2025 would be the hottest year on record and would replace the year 2016 from top of the list

The Ministry of Education has recently launched YUVA- (Young, Upcoming and Versatile Authors) Prime Minister’s Scheme for Mentoring Young Authors.
It is an Author Mentorship programme to train young authors below 30 years. The launch of YUVA (Young, Upcoming and Versatile Authors) is a part of India@75 Project to highlight the perspectives of young writers on themes like Unsung Heroes, Freedom Fighters and Forgotten Places.

Under the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme, both the Centre and State government share the cooking cost for daily meals in the ratio of 60:40 for non-North eastern states and UTs with legislatures except J&K and in the ratio of 90:10 for all others.
Recently, the Centre has decided to transfer its share of the cooking cost component in the Mid-Day Meal (MDM) scheme for students of classes 1 to 8, into their bank accounts as a one-time Covid relief.

The United Nations has designated 29 May as the International Day of UN Peacekeepers. It aims to celebrate the contributions of civilian and uniformed personnel performing the task of peacekeeping for the organisation.
The UN awarded 124 peacekeepers from 44 nations posthumously with the ‘Dag Hammarskjold Medal’, for laying down their lives during peacekeeping operations in 2020.

Amnesty International, is a non-governmental organisation focused on human rights, which was founded in London in the year 1961.
Amnesty International Day is celebrated on May 28 every year, to honour its founding day. The organisation was awarded the 1977 Nobel Peace Prize for its campaign against torture and the United Nations Prize in the Field of Human Rights in 1978.

Syrian President Bashar Assad was re-elected in a landslide victory, to lead the country in a fourth seven-year term in the war-torn country.
Syria has been witnessing 10-year-old conflict and the areas controlled by Kurdish-led troops did not hold the vote. As per the officials, 18 million were eligible to vote for the elections. Several countries have questioned the legitimacy of the election.
