The ‘Bombay Club’ is an informal grouping of politically connected, old-school Indian industrialists who felt threatened by deep-pocketed multinationals asked some protections from the government. The club face was Rahul Bajaj and he represented a sense of insecurity and a desire for status quo. But in time, many of those who opposed reforms have built themselves into stronger and bigger companies.
