Notes: Anandibai Joshi (1865-1887) was the first Indian woman to qualify as a doctor of Western medicine. She graduated from the Woman's Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1886, becoming a pioneer for Indian women in medicine. She hailed from Maharashtra's Bombay Presidency.
