Notes: By introducing the Doctrine of Lapse policy Dlhousie not only tried to annex the states but he also went for the abolition of titles and pensions of the ruler. Dalhousie abolished the pension of NanaSaheb (Adopted son of Bajirao II) and refused to give him the recognition after the death of Bajirao II in the year 1852.
