Notes: Gandhi launched an individual civil disobedience movement on 17 October 1940 when Vinoba Bhave, the first satyagrahi chosen by him, made in anti-war speech at Paunar near Wardha. Four days later, Bhave was arrested. The second satyagrahi chosen by Gandhi was Nehru, who was arrested in November 1940 and was sentenced to four year’s imprisonment.
