Notes: Vikramshila University was established by Dharmapala. Vikramashila was one of the two most important Buddhist centres of learning in India during the Pala Empire, along with Nalanda. Its location is now the site of Antichak village, Bhagalpur district in Bihar. It was destroyed by the forces of Muhammad bin Bakhtiyar Khilji  around 1193.
