Notes: It is a folk drama of Assam, especially of Majuli Island. The idea is to spread religious and moral messages to the masses through entertainment and sports. It is a showcase of Ankiya Knot and Vaishnav Theme Gen. The sutradhars (narrators) narrate the play and sing sacred verses. Texts, songs, and music are also part of it. This folk theater was built by Sankardeva in the early 16th century.
