Q. Who among the following was the Maratha Peshwa at the time of 3rd battle of Panipat?
Answer:
Balaji Baji Rao
Notes: Balaji Vishwanath was appointed Peshwa in 1713 CE. His son, Baji Rao I became Peshwa in 1720 and further expanded the Maratha Empire. King Shahu, before his death, had left all management of state affairs in the Peshwa’s hands. Baji Rao’s 18 year old son Balaji Baji Rao, more widely known as Nana Saheb, was Peshwa from 1740 to 1761. Already seriously ill, the news of the defeat in the 3rd battle of Panipat hastened his death. The 17 year old Madhav Rao became Peshwa after this.
