Notes: Murshid Quli Khan (1717-27) was the first Nawab of Bengal. In 1717, he was appointed as Subedar of Bengal by Mughal emperor Farrukh Siyar. In 1719, the Governorship of Orissa was also granted to him by the Mughal emperor. He transferred the capital of Bengal from Decca to Murshidabad. He was succeeded by Shuja-ud-Din.
