Girish Chandra Ghosh was a prominent actor in the Bagbazar Amateur Theatre, where he partnered with Ardhendu Mustafi, another renowned actor of his time. They gained fame for their performance in the play "Sadhabar Ekadashi" by the renowned playwright Dinabandhu Mitra. Subsequently, in 1871, the Bagbazar Amateur Theatre was renamed the National Theatre. However, Girish Chandra Ghosh left the National Theatre in 1873 to establish the Great National Theatre.
