Answer: Sher Shah Suri
Notes: For administrative and military purposes, Sher Shah Suri built the Grant Trunk road to connect Agra to Sasaram, that was his home town. It was extended to Multan in west and Sonargaon (Bengal) in east. This Sadak-i-Azam was the precursor of the Grant Trunk road. During the Mughal era, this Sadak-i-Azam extended till Kabul. Later, this road was improved by the Britishers and renamed as Grand Trunk Road that run between Calcutta to Peshawar.
