- Awadh
- Nagpur
- Jhansi
Select the correct answer from the codes given below:
Answer:
Only 1
Notes: Lord Dalhousie, an ‘avant-garde imperialist’, who declared that the extinction of all native states of India is just of question of time. He annexed Satara, Nagpur and Jhansi under the Doctrine of Lapse. He was also keen to annex Awadh, which was a long time obedient ally. Awadh had no problem of succession as the Nawab of Awadh had many heirs. So, he invented the problem of misgovernance to annex it. Nawab Wajid Ali Shah was accused of misgovernance and of refusing to introduce reforms. His state was therefore annexed in 1856 CE.
