Eichler (1883) subcategorised plant kingdom into two groups (Cryptogams and Phanerogams). Cryptogamae are conspicuous by their reproductive structures and consist of non-flowering plants like algae, fungi, bryophyte and pteridophytes. Phanerogamae are characterized by evident reproductive parts like flowers and seed, and include angiosperms and gymnosperms.
