Notes: Currently, passports of three colours viz. White, Maroon and Blue are issued in India. White cover passport is issued for government officials or people who visit other countries for official work of the government; Maroon coloured passports are issued for diplomats; and blue coloured for others. Blue coloured passport again consists of two sections- those who require an emigration check (ECR) and those who do not. Recently, government proposed to issue a new orange coloured passport to those who require emigration check, or most probably to unskilled labours who would like to move overseas for work.
