The Nirguna School of thought saw God as formless, devoid of qualities or attributes. It was introduced by Adi Shankara. Some of the other Bhakthi saints who preached this school of thought are- Kabir, Guru Nanak, Dadu Dayal etc.
According to the Saguna School, God has a distinct form, character, and positive attributes, and manifests himself in incarnations such as Rama and Krishna. They acknowledge the Vedas' spiritual authority and the requirement for a human Guru to act as a mediator between God and his devotees.
