Notes: The Bhopal gas tragedy, was a gas leak accident in 1984 at the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant in Bhopal. Over 5 lakh people were exposed to methyl isocyanate (MIC) gas. Around 337 tonnes of hazardous waste at the Union Carbide’s plant in Bhopal are set to be burnt at an incinerator at Pithampur industrial areas in Indore, 37 years after the gas leak incident.
