Q. Which among the following movements started with breaking the salt law?
Answer: Civil Disobedience Movement
Notes: The Civil Disobedience Movement began with the breaking of the Salt law in March 1930. The movement, also known as the Salt March or Dandi March, started when Mahatma Gandhi led a group of people from Sabarmati Ashram to the coastal town of Dandi. The group marched 240 miles in 24 days. Gandhi violated the salt law by making salt from sea water. He was arrested on May 4th. The Salt Act of 1882 prohibited Indians from collecting or selling salt. The British government imposed a heavy salt tax and monopolized the manufacture and sale of salt. Gandhi's movement was a demonstration against the increasingly repressive salt tax. The movement ended on April 7, 1934.
