In the year 1912 (23rd December), the then Viceroy of India, Lord Hardinge was attacked when the ceremony of the capital transfer from Calcutta to Delhi was going on. The main conspirator was Rash Behari Bose. A bomb was thrown towards Lord Hardinge and though he survived, it injured him severely.
