in Halebid and Belur
Architecture developed in modern Karnataka in India from the eleventh to the fourteenth centuries under the Hoysala dynasty. The southern Deccan plateau was dominated by the Hoysala kings and most of their architectural specimens are found there. The Hoysalas excelled in temple architecture and important temples of this period are the Hoysaleshwara Temple at Halebid, the Chennakeshava Temple at Belur, and the Keshava Temple at Somanathapura. The architecture of the Hoysala Empire was influenced by religious trends popularized by Vaishnava and Veerashaiva philosophers.
