Notes: The Supreme Court of India has a maximum strength of 34 judges. The current strength (2023) is 33 judges, including the Chief Justice. The Parliament can increase or decrease the number of judges in the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice and the judges of the Supreme Court are appointed by the President. According to the Constitution of India, the judges of the Supreme Court must retire at the age of 65.
