National Crisis Management Committee
Recently, the Central Government constituted the National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) to handle major disasters with national impact. It is formed under the Disaster Management Act, 2005. NCMC is the apex decision-making body for managing national-level disaster situations. The committee is chaired by the Cabinet Secretary of India. Members include the Union Home Secretary, Defence Secretary, Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat, and members of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The Chairperson can include experts or officers from Centre, States, or organizations depending on the crisis type.
