Russia currently spans eleven time zones, more than any other country. This is due to Russia's massive geographical spread, extending from the Baltic Sea in the west to the Bering Sea in the east. Originally, Russia had a total of 11 time zones, however, in 2011, President Dmitry Medvedev reduced it to 9. But in 2014, President Vladimir Putin returned Russia to its initial 11 time zones.
