Angkor Wat, complex of temples, is the largest religious monument in the world. It is located in Cambodia. It is a 12th-century construction started by Suryavarman II and completed by Jayavarman VII of the Khmer Empire. It followed the Khmer style of architecture. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was initially constructed as a Hindu temple, later transformed into a Buddhist temple. The temple is depicted in the national flag of Cambodia, thereby became the national symbol of Cambodia.
