Semtex is a plastic explosive containing RDX and Pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) used for commercial blasting, demolition and for certain military applications. It was first developed in the late 1950s by Stanislav Brebera in Czechoslovakia (now the Czech Republic). The explosive is named after Semtin, a suburb of Pardubice city of the Czech Republic, where the mixture was first started manufacturing in 1964.
