Notes: According to the Buddhist text, "Mahavamsa", Bimbisara was appointed king by his father Bhatiya. Bimbisara was considered the real founder of Haryanka dynasty. Haryanka dynasty was the third ruling dynasty of Magadha after Pradyota and Brahadratha dynasty. Bimbisara followed the policy of marriage alliances to extend boundaries of his Kingdom. His most serious rival was the ruler of Avanti, Chanda Pradyota but ultimately the two kingdoms became friends and to show his affection, Bimbisara sent his royal physician Jivika to treat Chanda Pradyota.
