Notes: India has launched its first manned ocean mission, ‘Samudrayan’, joining six other nations engaged in exploring Deep Ocean for research. While launching the mission, Union minister Jitendra Singh The Samudrayan project will be a part of the Deep Ocean Mission. It is being undertaken by the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT). The National Institute of Ocean Technology in 1993 is an autonomous society under the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
