Notes: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) introduced the Lead Bank Scheme in December 1969. The scheme was based on recommendations from the Gadgil Study Group and the Banker's Committee (Nariman Committee).  The Lead Bank Scheme's goal is to increase the flow of bank finance to priority sectors and other sectors. It also aims to promote the role of banks in the development of the rural sector.
