Notes: Battle of Talikota was fought in 1565. It was fought between the Vijayanagara Empire and an alliance of the Deccan sultanates. It was a watershed battle. The alliances of deccan sultanates were: Bijapur Sultanate, Bidar Sultanate, Ahmadnagar Sultanate and Golkanda Sultanate. Rama Raya, statesman of the Vijayanagara and the progenitor of the Aravidu dynasty of Vijayanagar Empire was killed in the Battle of Talikota and after that Vijayanagara was captured and destroyed. After his death,Vijayanagara Empire got fragmented into several semi-independent principalities.
