Q. In context with Karnataka, what is Halegannada?
Answer: A language
Notes: Halegannada is the earliest form of the Kannada language. It's also known as Old Kannada. Halegannada transformed from Purvada halegannada or Pre-old Kannada during the reign of the Kadambas of Banavasi, an ancient royal dynasty of Karnataka. The language evolved into Modern Kannada in four phases over the years.  Halegannada nurtured classical literature. From the 9th to the 14th centuries, Kannada works were classified under Old Kannada. Most of the popular literature belongs to either Nadugannada or Hosagannada.
