The Thamiraparani is the only perennial river in Tamil Nadu. It is the shortest river in the state. It originates from the Agastyarkoodam peak of Pothigai hills of the Western Ghats. It flows through Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts of the Tamil Nadu state of southern India into the Gulf of Mannar. It thus originates and ends in the same state.
Palar is a river of southern India.
