Notes: The 193-member UN General Assembly voted to elect 14 countries to the 47-member Human Rights Council.
Countries including Algeria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Chile, Germany, Maldives, Morocco, South Africa, Sudan, and Vietnam among others were elected to serve for a period of three years at the Geneva based-council, from January 2023. Candidates with poor human rights records: Venezuela and Afghanistan were not elected.
