Glove puppets are also known as sleeve, hand, or palm puppets. The head is made of paper mache, cloth, or wood, with both hands protruding from below the neck. The rest of the doll has a long skirt. These puppets are similar to lame dolls but can produce a wide variety of movements in the hands of competent puppets. The manipulation technique is simple. The movements are controlled by the human hand. The first finger is inserted into the head and both hands of the toe puppet. With the help of these three fingers, the glove puppet comes alive. Glove puppetry tradition is popular in India, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal, and Kerala.
