Q. Consider the following statements: First human like appearance was in Australopithecus First known Homo species is Homo heidelbergensis Which among the above statements is / are correct?
Answer: 1 only
Notes: The first human-like appearance is believed to have appeared in the genus Australopithecus, which lived in Africa between 4 and 2 million years ago. Australopithecines, or "australopiths," were bipedal primates that were intermediate in many ways between non-human primates and early humans. They had adaptations for walking on two legs, as well as hands and brains that were similar in size and complexity to those of modern humans. Although the australopiths were not direct ancestors of modern humans, they are considered to be important evolutionary links in the development of human beings. Homo habilis is another early species of the genus Homo that lived in Africa between approximately 2.8 and 1.5 million years ago. Some scientists consider H. habilis to be the first true member of the genus Homo. Homo heidelbergensis is a species that is widely accepted as one of the earliest members of the genus Homo, and is believed to have lived in Africa and Europe between 600,000 and 200,000 years ago.
