Harshavardhana established a large Buddhist monastery at Nalanda. Nalanda was a famous Buddhist university and center of learning in ancient times. Harshavardhana built a brass monastery within the Mahavihara at Nalanda. The monastery was supported by the revenue from 100 villages.
