Sundarbans - West Bengal
The highest geographical distribution of mangrove forests in India is found in the Sundarbans region of West Bengal. Covering more than 10,000 square kilometers, it is the largest mangrove forest in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and a significant part of the world's biosphere reserves. Its rich biodiversity comprises of around 260 bird species, the Sundri tree, and iconic Royal Bengal Tiger.
