Only 1
Notes:
National Population Register (NPR) is a list of usual residents of the country. It is compulsory for every usual resident of India to register in the NPR. A usual resident for the purposes of NPR is a person who has resided in a place for six months or more and intends to reside there for another six months or more.
It is generated through house-to-house enumeration during the “house-listing” phase of the Census.
This includes both Indian citizens and foreign citizens.
It is being prepared at the local (village/sub-town), sub-district, district, state and national level under provisions of the Citizenship Act 1955 and the Citizenship (Registration of Citizens and Issue of National Identity Cards) Rules, 2003.
The government has clarified that no documents will be required for NPR as self-declaration will be treated as enough for data entry in the population registrar.
The NPR was first collected in 2010 and then updated in 2015.
National Population Register (NPR) is the register with detailed records of persons residing in any rural or urban area of India. In contrast, the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is the register of details about Indian citizens residing in India and outside India.
