Notes: Rani Durgavati Madavi was a ruling Queen of Gondwana from 1550 until 1564 who killed herself in the battlefield on June 24, 1564 while fighting against the Mughals. Her courage for defending Garha Kingdom, also called Garha Mandla or Garha Katanga, is remembered even today. Her martyrdom is even today commemorated as “Balidan Diwas”.
