Notes: Mallas made Pawapuri as their capital during the Mahajanapada era. It is mentioned in the 'Buddhist Anguttar Nikaya' and Jain Grantha 'Bhagwati Sutra'. Mallas was one of the sixteen mahajanapadas. Mallas were a powerful clan of eastern India at the time of Gautam Buddha and they are frequently mentioned in the Buddhist and Jaina works.
