Q. Which of the following is/are the advantages of Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLEDs) over Liquid Crystal displays (LCDs)?
- OLEDs do not require a backlight and filters.
- OLEDs are more efficient and can be fabricated on flexible plastic substrates.
- OLEDs are more efficient at displaying bright images.
- OLEDs can be fabricated in to roll-up displays.
Choose the correct answer using the codes given below:
Answer:
Only 1, 2 & 4
Notes:
- Organic Light Emitting Devices (OLED) emit light from active luminescent material in each display pixel. OLED panels are made from organic materials that emit light when electricity is applied through them. Since OLEDs do not require a backlight and filters (like LCD displays do), they are more efficient, simpler to make, and much thinner - and in fact can be made flexible and even rollable.
- OLEDs are ultrathin and light, they can be fabricated on flexible plastic or roll-up displays. Transparent displays are also possible. In general, OLEDs are more efficient than LCDs for displaying dark images because black pixels consume little power for an emissive display, while LCDs are more efficient than OLEDs at displaying bright images.
