Chham is a folk dance of Himachal Pradesh, performed by the Buddhist monks (Lamas,) in the courtyard of monasteries during religious and other festivals, as a part of the celebrations. It is performed to exorcise evil spirits and demons. The theme rotates around killing the ‘Evil King’, symbolic of evil tendencies in humans, natural calamities, diseases and epidemics.
